Welcome Guide for Asylum Seekers and Refugees

Council has partnered with the Intercultural Network Ryde Area to produce a multi-lingual Welcome Guide for Asylum Seekers & Refugees(PDF, 7MB) to the City of Ryde. The City of Ryde was declared a Refugee Welcome Zone in 2013.

The 27-page Welcome Guide is designed to help asylum seekers and refugees enjoy and participate in what the City of Ryde has to offer. It will also act as a guide for community service providers to access information and contacts for newly arrived clients.

The Guide includes sections on:

  • Community and information centres
  • Libraries
  • Free services
  • Finding a home
  • Language assistance
  • Transport
  • Meeting new people
  • Where to seek help
  • Shopping
  • Health and well-being
  • Places of worship

Copies are also available at City of Ryde Customer Service, City of Ryde Libraries, the Migrant Resource Centre (159 Shaftesbury Road, Eastwood), and multiple community services provider outlets.
