The Sector Activation Model (SAM) is an integrated sector development model that combines direct service provision, capacity building and community incubator activities to develop, support, mentor, connect, activate and maximise the provision and success of social services delivered from a specific location.
These activities and this model of sector activation are currently being developed by City of Ryde in partnership with community organisations in two key locations in Ryde – West Ryde Community Centre and the Ivanhoe Estate, Macquarie Park.
Key aspects of the model are:
- Direct service provision - the delivery of social programs and services to the community.
- Capacity building - activities to identify needs and develop skills and opportunities for learning and development
- Community incubator - an intensive mentoring and support process for new community organisations in partnership with established organisations.
