Citizenship Ceremonies
Citizenship ceremonies fulfil legal requirements prescribed by the Australian Citizenship Act 2007 and the Australian Citizenship Regulations 2007. Ceremonies are conducted under the authority of the Australian Government minister responsible for Citizenship matters.
The role of the Council is to conduct the Citizenship Ceremonies and is not a point of contact for those wishing to apply for Australian Citizenship.
Citizenship Ceremony Dates
Council conducts Citizenship Ceremonies once per month (excluding September, October and December) for residents of the Ryde local government area who have been granted Citizenship. Attending a Citizenship Ceremony and making the Pledge of Commitment is the final legal requirement to become an Australian Citizen.
Australia Day
The first Citizenship Ceremony for 2012 will be held at 10am on 26 January as part of the City of Ryde Australia Day Ceremony.
Regular Ceremonies
Ceremonies are held on a Thursday and commence at 7.30pm in the Civic Hall. Please refer to your invitation for further ceremony details.
