2017 Council Election 

The next election for the City of Ryde will be held on Saturday 9 September 2017.

Residential roll

Under the Local Government Act 1993, a person is required to vote at the City of Ryde Council election if they are a resident of one of the three wards in the council area – East, Central or West.  Please check the map to identify your ward City of Ryde Ward Map.

Voting venues will be advertised on Electoral Commission of NSW website and in the local papers closer to election day.

Thinking of becoming a Councillor
City of Ryde Council will be holding two information sessions for people interested in becoming a Councillor. These seminars will assist prospective candidates to gain a better understanding of the role and responsibilities of an elected member of Council. 

A representative from Local Government NSW will present a range of topics including:

  • Understanding the role of Council, the role of a Councillor, and the importance of diverse representation
  • Community expectations, challenges of the role and the importance of speaking out on key issues
  • Conflicts of interest and the support available to new Councillors.
