The City of Ryde is divided into three wards - East, Central and West.

The East Ward includes areas of:

• Chatswood West
• East Ryde
• North Ryde
• Gladesville
• Tennyson Point
• Putney
• Ryde

The Central Ward includes areas of:

• Ryde
• Denistone East
• Meadowbank

The West Ward includes areas of:

• Macquarie Park
• Marsfield
• Eastwood
• Denistone East
• Denistone
• Denistone West
• Melrose Park
• West Ryde

Four Councillors are elected from each Ward. The Mayor and Deputy Mayor are elected annually by the Councillors.

Local Government elections are conducted every four years and Councillors are appointed for a four year term.

The next Council election will be held in September 2012.
