Rates and Charges 2011 - 2012

Council rates and charges levied on owners of property throughout the City of Ryde are Council's major source of income. During 2011/2012 they will provide approximately 42% of Council's total revenue. Council proposes to make and levy the following rates:

Ordinary Rates

• Residential (applicable to all rateable properties categorised as Residential in the City of Ryde)
• Business
  • Business General - (applicable to all rateable properties categorised as Business General in the City of Ryde)
  • Business Centre of Activity 1 (C o A 1) (applicable to all rateable properties categorised as Business Centre of Activity 1 (Macquarie Major Retail Centre) in the City of Ryde)
• Environmental Management (applicable to all rateable properties in the City of Ryde).

Special Rates

• Macquarie Park Corridor (applicable to all rateable properties categorised as Business in the Macquarie Park Corridor as detailed in the map on the following
  page).

The net estimated yield from each of these rates can be summarised in the following table:

The minimum rate payable for any parcel of land is specified as $429.80 for:

• Ordinary Residential
• Ordinary Business General
• Ordinary Business (Centre of Activity 1).

The Environmental Management Rate Base charge is set at $52.15 per property and will yield 36% of the total Environmental Management Rate.
