What are the Rates and Charges on my notice

Rates and Charges 2017 - 2018

Council rates and charges levied on owners of property throughout the City of Ryde are Council's major source of income. During 2017/2018 they will provide approximately 58.8% of Council's total revenue. Council proposes to make and levy the following rates: Ordinary Rates - Special Rates - Domestic Waste Charge

Ordinary Rates

  • Residential (applicable to all rateable properties categorised as Residential in the City of Ryde)
  • Business
    1. Business (applicable to all rateable properties categorised as Business in the City of Ryde)
    2. Business - Major Retail Centre - Macquarie Park (Applicable to all rateable properties categorised as Business - Major Retail Centre - Macquarie Park in the City of Ryde)
    3. Business - Major Retail Centre - Top Ryde (Applicable to all rateable properties categorised as Business - Major Retail Centre - Top Ryde in the City of Ryde)
  • Environmental Management (applicable to all rateable properties in the City of Ryde)

Special Rates

  • Macquarie Park Corridor (applicable to all rateable properties categorised as Business in the Macquarie Park Corridor)
  • Special Infrastructure Renewal (applicable to all rateable properties in the City of Ryde)

The Environmental Management Rate Base charge yields 36% of the total Environmental Management yield. 

The Special Infrastructure Renewal Rate Base charge yields 50% of the total Special Infrastructure Renewal yield.

Domestic Waste Charge

The Domestic Waste Management Service Charge is levied under Section 496(1) of the Local Government Act and is also detailed in Council's Revenue Policy.

Residents are advised to enter their address in the My Neighbourhood Map or view their Waste Collection Calendar for collection dates.

  • 1 x 240L yellow lidded recycling bin - fortnightly
  • 1 x 240L green lidded garden organics bin - fortnightly

Note - ECO Service is not available to units or apartment complexes that have a shared bin service.

All additional bins are serviced in accordance with the standard collection service - weekly collection for waste and alternate fortnight collections for recycling and green waste. Complete a New/Additional Waste Services(PDF, 48KB) form and send to Council for approval and delivery.

Garbage services to non-rateable properties are provided upon request and charged under Section 496(2) of the Local Government Act. Non-rateable properties are provided with the same services as non-rateable properties. The charges are as above.
