Control of Vermin
Under clause 21 of the Public Health (General) Regulation 2002, occupiers of premises are required to take reasonable measures to keep the premises free of fleas, other disease-carrying insects, rats and mice.
Where a property is providing a harbourage for disease-carrying pests, Council Environmental Health Officers can order the owner or occupier to take action to place the premises in a healthy condition.
