Want to save up to 20% on your home energy bills?
The NSW Government's Home Power Savings Program offers lower inc ome households free help to save up to 20% off their power use.
Who is eligible?
To be eligible for the program at least one person in the household must be a:
- Pensioner Concession card holder
- Low Income Health Care card holder
- Veterans’ Affairs Pension card holder
- Repatriation Health (Gold and White) card holder
- social housing tenant
- energy utility hardship customer
What is involved?
You will get a:
- FREE home power assessment by an energy expert who will show you how much your appliances cost to run
- FREE Power Savings Kit valued up to $200 and installed by an energy expert
- FREE Power Savings Action Plan showing how much more money and carbon pollution can be saved by becoming more energy efficient
Supply and installation of fixed kit items depends on your landlord’s consent if you are a rental or social housing tenant.
More than 50,000 pensioners and families on a lower income have already joined the program and are saving an average of $265 each on their annual bills!
Free Power Savings Kit
The kit is valued up to $200 and includes:
- 4 x energy efficient light bulbs - to replace old-style incandescent light globes and save money off your power bills
- a shower timer - reducing your shower time by three minutes saves hot water and helps cut power bills
- water efficient shower head - a standard shower head can use up to 25 litres of water per minutes, where a water efficient one can use as little as 9 litres per minute
- door snakes and draught-proofing strips - stop draughts coming in around and under doors and windows, which will keep warm air in during winter and hot air out during summer
- tap aerator - restrict the flow of water from your tap without reducing pressure
- stand-by saver power board - automatically turns off power appliances such as TVs, DVDs and computer screens when not in use with one easy click of your tv remote

- Wednesday 14 December, Eastwood Library
- Thursday 15 December, North Ryde Library
- Friday 16 December, Ryde Library
All sessions commence at 11am and run for half an hour. Bookings are essential, call 9952 8222.
