Before employing an arborist, check they are insured and qualified to carry out the work you want done.

If your tree needs to be pruned or assessed, the contractor must carry an Australian Qualification Framework level 3 or equivalent in Horticulture (Arboriculture), and be registered as a member of the Tree Contractors Association or Arboriculture Australia.

For all other work, including preparing an aboricultural report, the contractor must hold an Australian Qualification Framework level 5 or equivalent in Horticulture (Arboriculture) and registered as a member of the Australian Consulting Arboriculturalists or Arboriculture Australia.
