Egg decorating workshop - Arts Activation Ryde

Egg decorating is an old craft practised in many cultures.

Egg shells decorated with engraved hatched patterns dating back 60,000 years were found in South Africa. Modern egg artists decorate eggs by etching, painting or covering with different materials such as paper or fabric.

In this work shop you can try decorating small eggs in the Faberge style with lots of bling or papercut silhouettes with an Eastern European flavour.

This session will be free and materials will be provided. Feel free to bring and share any of the following embellishments such as: Rhinestones, glitter and/or small beads; Stickers and/or scrap wrapping paper; Lace, fabric, and/or narrow ribbons

Please bring:

  • Egg cups to display your finished eggs.
  • Please come along with a big smile and a plate of lunch to share with your fellow creatives.
  • Please arrive at 10 am so we all get the most out of each session.

Arts Activation Ryde (AAR) is a City of Ryde (CoR) community and cultural arts project run in partnership with Artisans Ryde Inc. AAR workshops occur on the 4th Wednesday of each month (excluding December and January) and are designed to bring culturally diverse people together to share their traditional and contemporary arts practice in a supportive and friendly environment. You get to try your hand with a new, creative activity each month.
