Clean Up Australia Day for Business

Business Clean Up Day encourages businesses and their employees to take to their local park, beach, bushland, streets or business premise and help collect rubbish. Businesses can sign up to organise their own Clean Up site.  

Benefits of participating include:

  • Positive local role models through which employers and employees demonstrate the importance of community participation and environmental responsibility.
  • A sense of belonging to the community, as well as generating patriotism and national pride in Australia.

  • Helps to educate and inform Australians about the impact of rubbish in our environment.

  • Fosters local partnerships between Council and local businesses.
  • A social day where businesses can spend time with their employees.

Notes

  • This activity is suitable for businesses and groups of work colleagues . Children 15 years of age and under must be supervised. by a parent or guardian.
  • Each registered site will be provided with a Business Clean Up Day Kit which includes marketing material, bags, gloves and sharps containers and documentation for use by volunteers on the day.
  • BYO water, water bottle and sunscreen.
  • Clothing must be suitable for physical activity. Hats must be worn.
  • Footwear must be enclosed, non-slip sole and suitable for physical activity. NO thongs, sandals or open toed shoes.
  • All volunteers must sign the Volunteer Registration Form before commencing the activity on the day, regardless of whether they have registered online or not. This form must be signed and the volunteer is required to declare any pre-existing medical conditions.
  • Volunteers must cooperate with and follow the directions of Site Supervisors, Clean Up Australia and Council officers for the maintenance of a safe volunteering environment.
  • Registered and participating businesses are required to make their own arrangements to dispose of the waste collected on their business premise (eg. via their business’ waste collection services). Please contact council ph. 9952 8222 if you wish to make arrangements for a Clean Up site in a public area that is external to your business premise.
