Embedding Sustainability Into Early Childhood Curriculum and Settings

Staff of pre-school and before school centres within the local government area are invited to gain skills and confidence in incorporating sustainability into your centre’s teaching and operational programs. Discover unique opportunities in your early childhood centre for learning for sustainability.

In this interactive workshop you will:

  • learn the meaning of sustainability and why it is included as National Quality Standard 3.3
  • recognise the importance of a values approach to sustainability
  • gain skills and confidence in incorporating sustainability into your teaching programs and service operations
  • see teaching resources and practical examples of sustainability in action
  • develop a sustainability plan based on the unique characteristics of their early childhood centre.

Presenter: Sandra Nichols
Sandra is a sustainability educator specialising in running workshops for teachers in incorporating Education for Sustainability (EfS) into the Australian Curriculum.
She has worked in EfS research at Macquarie University and was a social science secondary teacher for over 20 years.
Sandra was co-founder of Transition Epping, a community sustainability group working towards a better world.
