Start A Business Workshop

Starting a cafe/restaurant in the new year? Turn your food and drink dream into a successful business

Starting a new hospitality venue is an exciting time for new owners. It is also one of the most crucial times to get things right.  It is not what you know you need to get right that’s the problem, it’s what you don’t know and as they say, you don’t know, what you don’t know.

So much of the future success of a venue can be influenced by owners actions at the start of their process. Even before the doors are open. Attend this presentation if you want to make sure you get the best start to your new venture and set up your food and drink dream to not just be a great venue but also a successful business.

Presenter | The Hospitality Nerd

Nathan-Moses In 2012 Nathan Moses was a young budding restaurateur with not much more than an idea and the drive to make it happen.

Nathan's background before starting his first restaurant was in finance as a derivatives trader on the Japanese stock market. Nathan understood numbers but had little experience in operating a restaurant.

And today... Nathan has owned and operated a successful restaurant in Darlinghurst for the past 5 years.

  • Nathan has successfully relaunched a restaurant, changing the cuisine and restructuring the service of the venue whilst still retaining customers.
  • Dimmi Diners voted Nathan’s restaurant the #6 best restaurant in Australia in 2016.
  • Broadsheet voted Nathan’s restaurant in the top ten dates spots in Sydney.
  • The Good Food Guide has included Nathan’s restaurant in their book every year.
  • Nathan’s restaurant has a consistent regular customer base, is stable and most importantly operates profitably.
