 Ryde Flora and Fauna Studies

Systematic Surveys

The City of Ryde is identifying and undertaking systematic surveys during the Autumn and Spring months of the year to Flowersidentify and list indigenous and exotic flora and fauna that exist in bushlands of Ryde.

The information derived from these surveys will be used to identify the occurrence of indigenous and exotic species of flora and fauna in local reserves and contribute to a database list of species and mapping of identifiable communities.

Additionally, the surveys will assist the City to identify reserves which areas require establishment to conserve or improve local and regional biodiversity. particularly in regard to threatened species and ecological communities, and to relate this to City Management Plans and bushland plans of management.

Please note:  Identification and mapping of vegetation communities in the 2006, 2007 and 2008 reports may be subject to amendments as the NSW Department of Environment and Climate Change are currently updating their diagnostic species lists for vegetation communities after receiving additional survey data in recent years.
