The Elected Councillors meet most weeks, at Committee Meetings or Council Meetings.
At Committee Meetings, reports from Council Officers are submitted, with a recommendation, for the consideration of the Committee Members.
Depending on the nature of the issue, the Committee may have delegated authority in accordance with Council's Code of Meeting Practice (PDF 173KB) and in accordance with the Local Government Act 1993) to make resolutions which can be acted upon immediately.
If the Committee does not have the appropriate delegated authority, the Committee usually makes a recommendation to be considered at a Council Meeting.
The Council will then make a resolution which can be acted upon immediately.

Resolution: A matter determined by a Committee under delegated authority is deemed to be the decision of Council. |

Recommendation: The committee usually make a recommendation on matters NOT determined by the Committee under delegated authority, and this is referred to the Council Meeting (except Committee of the Whole). |

The minutes contain resolutions including those for Committee items not otherwise approved under delegated authority. |
