 Social Justice Charter

The City of Ryde is committed to social justice, to building a City that supports and encourages our communities and citizens to strive to fulfil their aspirations. This Social Justice Charter 2008 will be a foundation to help us achieve our vision of a dynamic and innovative City, a leader in environmental, economic and social sustainability.

The Charter commits us to building a just and inclusive community - a City committed to equality of opportunity and a recognition of the disadvantages faced by some individuals and groups. Its implementation will enable the strengthening of our community through empowerment, inclusiveness, reconciliation, safe and healthy environments, crime prevention, economic development and partnerships.

The City of Ryde recognises that social justice is founded upon human rights and that local government has a unique role in promoting the participation of citizens and communities. We believe the Social Justice Charter 2008 opens a significant chapter in the development of the just and inclusive City we all aspire to.
