Welcome
The City of Ryde is planning the best ways to house our growing population over the next 25 years and we need your input.
Here you will find information about what your Council is doing to plan for the future and how you can have your say.
What is Talking Future Housing?
To guide and control future development in the City of Ryde, your Council is developing a number of strategies and planning papers. These will allow Council to manage growth and control new development to ensure that Ryde remains a great place to live, work, visit and do business.
To achieve this, Council wants to hear from our residents, workers and business people. We want to know more about:
What you value about where you live The housing needs of Ryde’s residents now and into the future The types of housing that should be built Where these homes be located Your vision for the future of your neighbourhood, including your preferences on:
Types of housing Streets Parks Shops Transport networks.
Talking future housing
Do you want to influence the future of housing in your area?
We want to hear your views and ideas about how the City of Ryde can best provide for our growing population over the next 25 years.
In April and May 2008 the Council held consultation to discuss what people like about housing in Ryde and how to improve future housing. Participants identified that traffic and transport, infrastructure, higher densities, a diversity of housing types, affordable and accessible housing and sustainability were key issues in planning for future housing in Ryde.
Over 50 people attended the first community workshop to identify the key issues in managing growth and these next workshops will help to identify how Council should address these issues to further improve living in Ryde.
We are interested in your thoughts on the housing needs of Ryde’s residents now and into the future. Specifically we would like to know:
- What housing types are desirable and appropriate?
- What changes to Ryde’s town centres and suburbs are desirable and appropriate?
Why is it important for you to get involved?
As a member of the Ryde community, it is important that you get involved and have a say! Council is particularly keen to hear from those people who might not normally share their ideas or get involved in planning projects.
How can you get involved?
Attend a Community Workshop
The workshops are open to everyone – even if you did not attend the previous workshops. They will be fun and informal and a light supper will be provided. We encourage families, singles and couples to attend – let your neighbours know and bring them along!
