Mayor of Ryde Vic Tagg with Minister for Local Government The Hon Barbara Perry MP and Central Darling Shire Mayor Ray Longfellow | Understanding with each other on the 29th October, 2007.
Both Councils would work together to provide assistance and explore opportunities to benefit each Council and their communities. Each council would identify and enact collaborative activities and make them work.
The relationship between the two Councils aims to create a unique opportunity for sharing ideas and challenging perspectives so they can learn from each other.
The vehicle for the Partnership relationship is a Committee for the Country Council Partnership which had its first meeting at Ryde on the 2nd April, 2008. The organisational role of the Committee is:

to consider and review partnership proposals submitted by Council and the Community

to generate ideas for new partnership proposals

to promote the partnership to the community, business, government agencies and other stakeholders to seek sponsorship and / or in-kind support for joint projects

to foster open communication between Central Darling Shire and the City of Ryde and each local community
-
to develop a Memorandum of Understanding for adoption by both Councils.
Key Objectives of Relationship
The key objectives of the Councils’ relationship listed above reflect the broad range of Cultural, Community, Business, Technology and Resource issues to be explored and progressed under the agreement. Both Councils are totally committed to working together in the alliance partnership for the overall betterment and enrichment of their communities.
It was agreed by the Country Council Partnership Advisory Committee, that 5 Working Groups be established to work independently on projects as required and report to the whole Advisory Committee, which will meet a minimum of twice per year, on their various nominated initiatives.
