Individual Access Award– Kim Gregan

Kim provides transport to people with disabilities to and from work, outings and community based services.

Through his work people with disabilities are able to participate in and make a valuable contribution to community life.  He is always reliable and willing to go the ‘extra mile’ to help those in need.

When some of Kim’s regular passengers heard that he had been nominated for an access award they took the time to contact Council to add their support to this nomination. Kim transports one resident’s son who said “Kim makes all the difference in my son’s life”…”he deserves to win this award”.

We congratulate Kim for his outstanding contribution to assisting people with disabilities to access the local community.

Group Access Awards - Side by Side Advocacy

Side by Side Advocacy (formally Citizen Advocacy Ryde Hunters Hill) offers advocacy and support to people with intellectual disabilities in our local community. This is done in part by facilitating access to and supporting freely given relationships between people and advocates. This role Side by Side Advocacy plays in our community is vital and deserves an award in its own right.

However, the primary reason Side by Side was nominated for an access award in 2006 relates to the efforts the service went to in finding new premises, raising money to ensure that it could be renovated to become fully accessible and relocating. “At the new office anyone can have anyone come and visit including those with wheelchairs.”

The City of Ryde Access Committee congratulates Side by Side Advocacy for the outstanding contribution they have made to improving access in the City of Ryde.
