Local Studies Temporary Closure
Due to the need for urgent maintenance and repairs the Local Studies and Genealogy section at Ryde Central Branch Library will be closed from Tuesday 24th November until Tuesday 1st December, 2009. We apologise for any inconvenience this closure may cause.

Council Services through the Libraries
The City of Ryde is now expanding resident access to Council services though its network of libraries. With the exception of matters relating to development, residents can now access a range of services and information previously only available from the Civic Centre. You no longer need to come to the Civic Centre for your queries and transactions. This new service gives you access to customer service trained staff for extended hours, in your local area.
A Council Kiosk (dedicated computer) is available at each branch library for resident access to Council information and to make payments online. All library staff have been trained in Council services and will be able to assist you with your enquiries.
Key services available include:
- Information/forms/enquiries: rates, waste, trees, vacation care, immunisation, child care, aged services, home modification, animals, community events, Councillor information, Committee meetings.
- Requests for service: abandoned/illegally parked vehicles, new/missed/stolen waste bins, tree/park maintenance.
- Complaints/reporting: potholes, damaged footpath/road, dumped rubbish, lost/found dogs, noise.
- Accept for lodgement: Animal registration, vacation care enrolments, tree applications, statutory certificates and
notice of intent forms. Payments for Council services can be made at the libraries by cheque, money order, Mastercard and Visa (merchant fees apply). Please note, however, that cash payments cannot be accepted at the libraries.
Don't forget that enquires concerning development should continue to be directed to the Customer Service Centre at the Civic Centre, rather than through the libraries. For the more complex or technical development enquiries, there is a Duty Planner/Surveyor available to assist you at the Civic Centre during business hours, no appointment necessary. You can continue to direct enquiries about any other matter to the Customer Service Centre too.
