Services

  • Children's Book Week activities: held each year in August. View the full list of Children's Book Week winners!
  • Chinese Bilingual Storytime: Cantonese and English on Tuesday - Mandarin and English on Thursday - held at Eastwood Library on the first Tuesday and Thursday of each month. 
  • Preschool Storytimes: These are held at all branches and gives young children and their parents an opportunity to listen to stories, watch videos and enjoy craft activities.
  • Reader's Advisory Service: The Children's & Young Adult Services staff are available to assist children and parents in selection of reading material and/or find information for school projects.
  • Ryde Rockers Rhyme Time: A great way to introduce your baby to rhymes, books and the local library. 
  • School Holiday Activities: Sessions of the holiday activities are held at each branch.
  • Summer Reading Programs: The Summer Reading Program is held during the summer school holidays and encourages children to enjoy reading.

Collections

  • Books, magazine, video's, music CD's, talking books.
  • Toys: Our toy library is located at the North Ryde Branch Library.
  • Multimedia CD-ROM's for young children from preschool to high school age. These are located at each branch library.
  • Free Internet access for research.

Premier's Reading Challenge
PREMIER'S READING CHALLENGE 2009
The Challenge runs from 1 February to 1 September 2009. The Premier's Reading Challenge (PRC) is available for all NSW students in Years Kindergarten to Year 9, in government, independent, Catholic and home-schools. Participation by schools and students is voluntary. Teachers, teacher-librarians and public librarians can assist students to choose the Challenge level and books that are appropriate for their age, interest and maturity levels. K-2 students who can read simple chapter books independently are encouraged to attempt the 3-4 Challenge.
