Ryde Library Services, as part of the Australian Bureau of Statistics Library Extension Programme, holds a core collection of publications, including the 1991, 1996 and 2001 census results in print or online. The majority of the publications provide statistical information relating to Australia and New South Wales, with census results available down to the Statistical Local Area (SLA) level for each state. Online, over 650 full text publication titles are available on the ABS website in Adobe Acrobat format.

According to the 2006 Census, the resident population of Australia increased by 6%, or just over 1 million people, since the 2001 Census. The number of people counted in the 2006 Census who had Australian Citizenship was 17,095,569 (86.1%). The population of the City of Ryde (excluding overseas visitors), according to the 2006 census was 96,764 person, and increase of 2,520 (or 2.6%) since 2001.

Australian Bureau of Statistics census data for 1991, 1996, 2001, and 2006 has been adapted by the company .id to provide a profile of the community. The City of Ryde Community Profile is formatted to present the data in simple, clear tables and charts with concise factual commentary, to inform community groups, investors, business, students and the general public.

New South Wales Population Projections - The New South Wales Department of Planning, in consultation with the Population Projections Group, is responsible for producing the official New South Wales population projections for State government planning purposes. Projections are first produced at a State and regional level then developed for each statistical local area within each region. These projections form the basis of the Australian Bureau of Statistics population estimates.
