Last week was busy, with a full round of engagements including the official opening of Stage 1 of the Top Ryde City Shopping Centre and family celebrations held to mark completion of works at Kissing Point and Bennelong Parks.
The new foreshore pathway, viewing and picnic areas showcase the natural environment and the stunning Parramatta River views. There are great spots like this all over the City of Ryde and this is a perfect time of the year to enjoy our local parklands.
Buffalo Creek Boardwalk
With generous funding from the Federal Government of $381,000, another ‘off the beaten track’ area will soon be more accessible to our community. Almost one kilometre of new boardwalk along the Buffalo Creek walking track near the Field of Mars Education Centre will soon be opened.
The new boardwalk means that dedicated bushwalkers, ecologists and those with disabilities can get up close to the sight, sound and touch of nature. This stage of the ongoing project is a joint Federal Government and Council initiative and also involves several of our valued local volunteer groups.
2010 Exhibition Season at Brush Farm House
The 2009 Brush Farm House Gallery exhibition program is now drawing to a close with some outstanding shows. The new 2010 season is shaping up to be equally impressive. A number of exciting exhibitions highlighting local creativity are scheduled throughout the year.
There are still dates available for 2010, and I would encourage any local artists and community groups that may be contemplating an exhibition to share their creative talents or celebrate a community event to call the City of Ryde on 9952 8222 to discuss opportunities.
