Winners of the City of Ryde 2009 Volunteer Recognition Awards will be announced at a gala ceremony on Thursday, 14 May, at the Ryde Civic Hall.
The Mayor, Clr Vic Tagg said the overwhelming response to this year’s Awards has been most gratifying. “We have received a record thirty-two nominations for the Volunteer, Young Volunteer and Group Awards.
“While this may have made the judges’ decision all the more difficult it does shows how appreciative the whole community is for the valuable work carried out by this army of unsung local heroes.”
The Awards are held every year in conjunction with National Volunteer Week. They honour the largely unseen mass of volunteers who give their time and skill generously to uplift and benefit the lives of so many in our community, from the youngest to the oldest.
