Council Celebrates Commitment To Community By Keeping It Local
         Thursday, 23 July 2009

To celebrate Local Government Week’s Keeping it Local (3-9 August), Ryde Library Services has come up with a novel way to get the community involved with of a local knowledge quiz for adults and high school students.

All the answers can be found on the Council’s website and there are prizes for the winners. Copies of the quizzes can be picked up at any of the five local libraries:

The Mayor, Clr Vic Tagg, said LG Week is an opportunity to showcase the vast range of services and facilities provided by Council to the community.  “We are responsible for much more than roads, rates and rubbish and with the help of this quiz we hope the community will get to know us better.

“Facilities and services that keep our community functioning such as libraries, sporting fields, parks and pools, youth, aged and volunteer services and the community bus – these are all managed by Council, but often people don’t realise it.”

*In step with LG Week theme of Keeping it Local, West Ryde Library will also hold an historic photographic display with a collage of local newspaper articles and copies of historic subdivision plans on view.

For further information call Customer Service on 9952 8222. For more information see the Quiz page.
