Those In Need To Benefit Most From Grant Wish-List

Wednesday, 5 August 2009

Council has targeted the disabled, older residents, service providers and sporting groups to benefit most from a special funding wish-list to be submitted to the State Government as part of a $35 million NSW Community Building Partnership Program.

Included in the priority list is a 'Liberty Swing' for children in wheelchairs, and major renovations to premises occupied by North Ryde Community Aid and the Early Childhood Health Centre in Cutler Parade.  Projects to improve access at bus stops for disabled and elderly citizens and upgrades to sporting facility and toilet block are also high on the agenda

City of Ryde Mayor, Clr Vic Tagg, welcomed the funding initiative that will see $300,000 invested in community projects across the three State electoral districts of Ryde, Lane Cove and Epping, which fall within the boundaries of the City of Ryde.  "In identifying these projects, Council has consulted with our three local State members as well as community groups.

"The comprehensive list has been taken from our Plan of Management and their fast-tracked completion will deliver positive outcomes for all the community, not only by greatly adding to the enjoyment and quality of life for a wide range of people, but also by improving services and creating job opportunities."
