New General Manager Appointment

City of Ryde Mayor Clr Michael Butterworth today announced the appointment of Mr John Neish to the position of General Manager of the City of Ryde.

Mr Neish’s five-year term as General Manager will commence January 4, 2010.

“Council has confidence that Mr. Neish has the skills and experience to guide the City of Ryde in its planning, financial, public works and community life roles,” the Mayor said.

“Mr Neish has had a long career across local government, as well as the private and not for profit sectors, that equip him well for this important leadership role.”

Mr Neish comes to the City of Ryde from his position as Executive Director of the National Trust of Australia (NSW).  He was previously General Manager of Parramatta City Council. 

"I am confident that under Mr Neish's leadership we will maintain our enviable position as one of the leading councils in NSW and continue to enhance our reputation as a vibrant city in which to live, work and invest," Clr Butterworth added.

On his appointment Mr Neish said he is honoured to take up the role.  “Ryde is a city of many opportunities and local government has an important role in further developing these. I look forward to working with the councillors, local community and partners to implement the city’s strategic plan and to using my experience in maintaining the City of Ryde as one of the best performing Councils in NSW.”
