Celebration Planned For New Look Eastwood Park
Wednesday, 21 October 2009
A new playground, terraced seating, improved pathways and drainage and a Grandstand makeover herald the completion of the Eastwood Park revitalisation and the community is invited to a family celebration on the Lower Field (West Parade) on Saturday 7 November, 10.00am – 12 noon. There will be a free sausage sizzle, refreshments, children’s rides and entertainment.
“Completion of this final stage of the $2 million Eastwood Park upgrade links with major works carried out to the upper areas earlier this year and together these improvements have breathed new life into this popular people’s park,” said the Mayor, Clr Michael Butterworth.
“The design and application that comes from Council’s Parks on Track for People Strategy has greatly improved Eastwood Park’s appeal, safety, usability and sustainability and this is evident in the large number of people now using the park.”
Features of the newly upgraded Lower Area include:
- A new playground with seating and landscaped surrounds
- Terracing/seating around Eastwood Library
- All-access bubbler
- Improved and new pathways
- New plantings and re-grassed areas
- Improved drainage
- New sandstone seating walls
- Upgrade to Keith Shaw Grandstand with new change rooms and toilets and equal-access toilet.
