Cinema in the Park

The City of Ryde holds an annual Cinema in the Park event featuring popular family movies. The free screenings are held in different locations around the City of Ryde, including our new location, Eastwood Plaza. Bring your picnic rug or low chair and find a spot on the grass - or plaza!

Movies start at sundown, approximately 8pm

  • Entry is free
  • All venues are smoke free
  • All venues are wheelchair accessible
  • Coffee, cold drinks and snacks available at all venues. Food available at Eastwood Plaza

What if it's raining?

Films may be cancelled due to poor weather conditions. Please check the City of Ryde website on the day to confirm that films are on.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2: Rodrick Rules

Now in Year 7, wimpy Greg Heffley is smitten with the pretty new girl Holly, but big brother Rodrick, who aspires to be a rock star, is on hand to kill his confidence. When the tension between the siblings escalates, Greg's mother Susan suggests they spend more time together, but predictably there are ups and downs as they bond over forbidden parties and silly pranks. Meanwhile Greg's best friend Rowley is disappointed when Greg refuses to be part of his magic act for the local talent quest, thinking Holly will think him a nerd.

Now living his dream as The Dragon Warrior, Po protects the Valley of Peace with fellow kung fu masters The Furious Five: Tigress, Monkey, Mantis, Viper and Crane. Po's mentor, Master Shifu tries to impress on his student the importance of inner peace. But Po is a panda trying to sort out the puzzle of his childhood which his father Mr Ping - a goose - is trying to tell him. Meanwhile, there are other things to deal with, namely the emergence of a formidable peacock villain Lord Shen, who is intent on using a secret weapon to conquer China and destroy kung fu. Now it is up to Po to discover the secrets of his origins and save China.

When Red Dog first arrives in the dusty Western Australian mining town of Dampier in 1971, he has no master and jumps into any lap or any car that wants him. But when American floater John comes to town for work, Red Dog takes to him. The locals, like publican Jack and Peeto love him, all except for the caravan park manger and his cat, as does newcomer Nancy who works in admin. She and John become a couple and Red Dog their much-loved pet. So when John fails to come home one day, Red Dog waits for him. Despondent, he finally sets off to track him down on an epic journey around Australia.

Captain Jack Sparrow is bemoaning the loss of his ship the Black Pearl and looking for adventure when he learns of another Jack Sparrow recruiting men for a ship. Intrigued and interested, he investigates and soon crosses paths with Angelica, a woman from his past whose memories of Jack are not 100 per cent benevolent, especially when she forces him aboard the Queen Anne's Revenge, the ship of the formidable pirate Blackbeard. Her goal is to find the fabled Fountain of Youth - with Jack's help. But Barbossa is also on the trail, wanting his revenge on Blackbeard, while the Spanish navy is chasing all of them.
