Ryde Cities for Climate Protection Advisory Committee (RCCPAC) was endorsed as the Climate Change and Sustainability Committee at Council on 8 September 2009.
Role
The primary role of the Climate Change and Sustainability Committee is:

To help guide the development, implementation, review and reporting processes of any climate change mitigation and adaptation strategy and related Sustainability Strategies for the City of Ryde.

To provide a dual advisory role towards the management and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions (mitigation) and making adjustments to existing activities and practices so that vulnerability to potential impacts associated with climate change can be reduced or opportunities realised (adaptation).
Responsibilities
The Climate Change and Sustainability Committee is responsible:

To monitor Strategy implementation on a regular basis (each meeting) and conduct full review of Strategies every 3 years.

To make recommendations to the City Executive Team for further development and improvement of Climate Action Change Strategies that can be incorporated into the City of Ryde Management Plans. Any Strategy improvement measures to be consistent with proper management, development, protection, restoration, enhancement and conservation of the environment and the promotion of the principles of ecologically sustainable development (ESD).

To examine City State of Environment Reporting (SOER) process and linkages with the City’s Management Plans and actions.

To make recommendations for ongoing community involvement in climate mitigation and adaptation change strategies that are linked to City Management Plans.
