   Your City Your Voice

The City of Ryde is committed to achieving strong democratic practice by building long-term, meaningful engagement
   between Council and the community.

To help us achieve this goal, we have developed a new Draft Engagement Policy and Engagement Framework so that we can
better engage with the community, residents, businesses and stakeholders.

The goal of the new policy and framework is to foster public participation by creating the conditions for citizens and Council
to work together skillfully and respectfully to maintain a vibrant democracy in the City of Ryde.

City of Ryde staff involved in community consultationThe Engagement Policy and Framework both reflect the following commitments:

  • We value input and feedback
  • We want you to be involved
  • We will provide a variety of activities to encourage you to be involved
  • We will tell you what we have done with your contributions
  • We will make it as convenient as we can
  • Being involved is your choice
  • Our engagement with you will be based on mutual respect.

Engagement is the provision of activities and other opportunities for
residents, stakeholders and Council officers to provide input, feedback,
advice and ideas on projects, plans or services that Council is developing or
   delivering.

This will ensure that Council is informed of the needs and aspirations of the people of the City of Ryde, who can assist in
determining and identifying priority services and facilities. The result is that the needs of the community are agreed and met.
