Stage 2 | Bill Mitchell Park

Published on 30 April 2015

Bill Mitchell Park is a open parkland with a mixed-use recreational trail that passes along the foreshore of Parramatta River within the City of Ryde. It has spectacular views and a sandstone seawall that provides access to the water's edge. The formalisation of the existing pathways ensures minimal impact on the significant vegetation in the park and the upgrade of the promenade area protects the sea wall. With the use of crushed stabilised sandstone paths, it responds to the local sandstone geology and character of the area.

works included:

  • upgrade of promenade area to protect seawall, including path seating, planting and a sportsfield protective fence
  • construction of a new non-slip concrete path with defined edging
  • construction of new entry stairs to improve access and safety
  • upgrade of existing drainage at Brett St.
