Photo of some Ryde participants in the 2008 Knit InABC Knit In - 'Wrap for Love'

Last year we collected 1107 squares and 24 completed rugs.

This year we collected 471 squares but 93 completed rugs!

This is a fantastic result. It is due to a number of factors:

  • we have been collecting squares and rugs all year and the Gladesville group has been meeting all that time
we had a second knitting/crochet venue at Eastwood
  • as squares were donated we made a concerted effort to sew them into rugs. This is not as easy as it may sound as a lot of knitters don't want to sew!
  • Photo of a selection of the rugs knittedSquares and rugs will continue to be donated. Please accept them and send them to me at Ryde.

Thanks to everyone for their efforts over the last few months. As you will be aware both the Gladesville group and the Eastwood group will continue to meet but now once a month

Photo of the Customer Service Kiosk at West Ryde LibraryCOUNCIL SERVICES THROUGH THE LIBRARIES

The City of Ryde is now expanding resident access to Council services though its network of libraries.

With the exception of matters relating to development, residents can now access a range of services and information previously only available from the Civic Centre.

A Council Kiosk (dedicated computer) is available at each branch library for resident access to Council information and
to make payments online. All library staff have been trained in Council services and will be able to assist you with your enquiries.

Key services available include:
Information/forms/enquiries: rates, waste, trees, vacation care, immunisation, child care, aged services, home modification, animals, community events, Councillor information, Committee meetings.

Requests for service: abandoned/illegally parked vehicles, new/missed/stolen waste bins, tree/park maintenance.

Complaints/reporting: potholes, damaged footpath/road, dumped rubbish, lost/found dogs, noise.

Accept for lodgement: Animal registration, vacation care enrolments, tree applications, statutory certificates and
notice of intent forms. Payments for Council services can be made at the libraries by cheque, money order, Mastercard and Visa (merchant fees apply). Please note, however, that cash payments cannot be accepted at the libraries.

So now, for many matters, you no longer need to come to the Civic Centre for your queries and transactions. This new
service gives you access to customer service trained staff for extended hours, in your local area.

Don 19t forget that enquires concerning development should continue to be directed to the Customer Service Centre at the Civic Centre, rather than through the libraries. For the more complex or technical development enquiries, there is a Duty Planner/Surveyor available to assist you at the Civic Centre during business hours, no appointment necessary.
You can continue to direct enquiries about any other matter to the Customer Service Centre too.
