Australian Awards

  • Children's Book of the Year Award
  • K.O.A.L.A. Award - Kids Own Australian Literature Awards, are made by young readers in NSW to the Australian books they have most enjoyed reading during that year.
  • Miles Franklin Award - The Miles Franklin award was set up under the terms of the will of the late Stella Maria Sarah Miles Franklin, the famed Australian author who died in September 1954. It is given annually for the novel or play of the highest literary merit, presenting aspects of Australian life, and published during the preceding year.
  • NSW Premier's Literary Awards - established by Premier Neville Wran in 1979 to honour distinguished achievement by Australian writers.


International

  • The Man Booker Prize - one of the world's most famous literary prizes for contemporary fiction.
  • Caldecott Medal - awarded annually to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children.
  • Nebula Award - awarded for the best science fiction and fantasy novel, novella, novelette, and short story.
  • Newbery Medal - awarded annually to the author of the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children.
  • Nobel Prize for Literature
  • Pulitzer Prize
