Welcome to the Youth Page's of Ryde Library Services. The library provides a number of services and collections for young adults. This page provides links to HSC topics, careers advice and homework help links.
There are also young adult fiction booklists by subject, including fantasy, mystery stories and TV Tie-ins. The Children's & Young Adult staff are available also to assist you in selection of reading material and/or find information for school projects.
The HSC seminar series is hosted by the Ryde Library Service every Year around June / July. Details will be posted closer to the date.
Now available at the Ryde Library, a large selection of the INFOCUS HSC resources. An innovative service developed by the State Library of New South Wales", Infocus "provides material that is specially chosen for its relevance to HSC topics, texts and issues drawn from Australian and international sources often hard to locate without visiting the State Library of New South Wales copyright cleared so that it can be maintained in member libraries collections."

The Young Adult section of the library includes, books, magazines & talking books. Video's for young adults can be found within the children's video collection. Multimedia CD-ROM's for young adults can be located at each branch library, these include information CD-ROM's such as The Sydney Morning Herald. Free Internet access for research is also available at each branch library.
Word Processing computers are also available at each branch.
A HSC Reference Collection has been developed at the Ryde Library. This collection includes subject and study guides for each of the HSC subjects, including 'Excel', 'Get Smart', 'Wizard', 'Leading Edge', 'Spark Notes', 'York Notes', 'Insight' and 'Macquarie' guides. The Library Catalogue includes a full list of the titles in the HSC collection at Ryde Library.
AskNow! is a collaborative service offered by over 100 librarians from National and State Libraries of Australasia, providing information and research help. Ask Now! is a virtual reference service staffed by librarians in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. It aims to provide high quality information to users, with the convenience of immediate, online communication. By completing a web form users can submit a question and chat to a librarian who will help find high quality information. During a session, the librarian can “push” websites and other information directly to the user’s computer while chatting. Librarians can also initiate a co-browse session with a user, which allows both parties to see the same screen.

- Available Monday to Friday from 4.00pm - 8.00pm
- Subject areas covered include: Maths, English, Science, Research and Study Skills
How it works!
- Students first select their subject and year level
- They then enter the ONLINE CLASSROOM where they are connected to a live tutor.
- The student asks their question and the tutor works through it with the student.
