         Gladesville Public Domain Upgrade
         Monday, 30 March 2009

Work on the public domain upgrade of Gladesville Town Centre along Victoria Road is scheduled to begin in May/June, following agreement between the City of Ryde and Hunters Hill Council on the schedule of finishes for paving works.

At a meeting on Wednesday 25 March agreement was reached on the schedule of finishes for the upgrade, which will include dark grey granite footpath paving with sandstone coloured granite banding.

Victoria Road spans the boundary between the City of Ryde and Hunters Hill Local Government Areas and the co-operation between the two Councils will ensure a unified approach to the public domain on both sides of the road.

The meeting was very positive and there was general agreement as to how to proceed to deliver the public domain in a timely manner.

The design is in keeping both with the Concept Plans recently approved by the City of Ryde and with the Urban Design Strategy recently adopted by Hunters Hill Council.

Mayors of the City of Ryde, Clr Vic Tagg and Municipality of Hunters Hill, Clr. Sue Hoopman said, “This is a great example of how neighbouring Councils can work together to achieve an agreed and positive outcome.

“Residents and businesses in Gladesville will soon be able to enjoy a refreshed and revitalized Town Centre that is both practical for users and visually pleasing.”
