Early Childhood Health Services will resume at West Ryde following Council’s decision to subsidise rental totalling over $34,000 for premises at the West Ryde Hall, following a request from the service provider, NSW Health.
The temporary relocation of the health service follows the closure of Council-owned premises at Anthony Road West Ryde to make way for construction of a new $20 million Family and Children’s Community Centre that is part of Council’s vision for the revitalisation of the West Ryde town centre.
The new Centre, due to open in 2009, will co-locate a wide range of health and support services, agencies and organisations under one roof, including the Early Childhood Health Services and a 45-place child care centre, in a one-stop-shop for families in the area.
Speaking on behalf of Council, Mayor Clr Ivan Petch, said: “This is an important health service for local parents and children and Council is pleased that suitable alternate premises have now been located by NSW Health.
“This arrangement continues a long association between Council and NSW Health to provide a range of quality, easily accessible health and support services to our community,” he said.
Services are expected to commence from mid April at the West Ryde Hall, 1A Station Street. Operational times, when confirmed, will be promoted through Council’s communication network, including Customer Service 99528222, website www.ryde.nsw.gov.au, Library network and various printed material.
