Ryde’s Riverside Secrets Revealed
11 March 2008

Putney Park, a hidden gem on the foreshore of Parramatta River, is just one of many similar parks lining the river’s northern foreshore to be linked by a 10 km long trail known as the Ryde Riverside Walk.

The foreshore walk is part of a Ryde Council Riverside Reserve project that will see over 50 parks, land parcels and open spaces dotted along the Parramatta River amalgamated into a continuous green reserve giving unprecedented community access to the sights and experiences of this famous waterway.

The Ryde Riverside Walk, now almost half complete, will run from the western boundary of Meadowbank Park to (Putney) Kissing Point Park.

The Ryde Riverside Reserve and Walk gives the community easy access to a range of active and passive uses, ideal for walkers, bike riders, family outings, picnics and playing fields.   Regular rest stations, seating, shelter, facilities and quiet spots reveal the landscape’s historic significance and natural beauty.

Mayor for the City of Ryde, Clr Ivan Petch, said:  “Council has worked hard to preserve the foreshore environment and improve public access to the Parramatta River.
