$455,000 Upgrade to Ermington Boat Ramp
28 March 2008

An upgrade to Ermington’s Wharf Road boat ramp will improve boat launching facilities for residents within the City of Ryde.

The upgrade will be funded by a $455,000 State Government grant under the new Better Boating Program.

The City of Ryde applied for the grant from NSW Maritime jointly with Parramatta Council.

The grant will enable Council to upgrade the existing jetty and widen the boat ramp to three lanes.

This will enable two boats to be launched concurrently, and result in improved traffic flow.

“Boat ramps are owned by local councils and maintenance has been our responsibility,” said Ivan Petch, Mayor of the City of Ryde.

“This new funding package will result in two first class boat launching facilities within the City of Ryde: one at Kissing Point and the Ermington Wharf Road jetty,” he said.

The upgrading of the wharf is part of a wider project that will see the completion of the foreshore linkage all the way from Gladesville Hospital to the Parramatta CBD.
