GARAGE SALE - SECONDHAND SATURDAY 

SecondHand Saturday is a garage sale held within your premises which takes place before a scheduled clean up collection. SecondHand Saturday is a great way to trade those items, stacked in the garage or under the house, no longer needed.

By participating in SecondHand Saturday residents’ are ensuring items are reused and saving resources needed to make new products AND reducing the amount of unwanted items going to landfill.

WE ADVERTISE YOUR GARAGE SALE FOR FREE IN THE NORTHERN DISTRICT TIMES

City of Ryde holds 10 Clean Up and Household Collections a year.

The week prior to these residents are invited to hold a SecondHand Saturday event and then place items not sold, out for the clean up collection.

Complete the registration form and City of Ryde will advertise your SecondHand Saturday event as well as send you tips on how to host a successful garage sale and posters.

Please return the registration form no later than 10 days prior to your SecondHand Saturday event.

RENAMING OF GIFFNOCK PATHWAY 

Notice is hereby given that the City of Ryde proposes to enter into a licence agreement for a period of 5 years with Hyundai Motor Company for the renaming of Giffnock Pathway to Hyundai Drive.

Written submissions on the proposed name should be addressed to the General Manager, City of Ryde, Locked Bag 2069, North Ryde, 1670.
Submissions should be received before Wednesday 20th August, 2008.

TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE

FORD STREET - FROM WEDNESDAY 3 SEPTEMBER, 2008

Under the provisions of the Roads Act 1993, the City Of Ryde proposes to close Ford Street between Lane Cove Road and Eastview Avenue for 8 weeks from
3 September, 2008 to allow for drainage amplification.

The alternative route for traffic will be via Kent Road, Ada Street.

SYDNEY-NORTH REGIONAL FOX BAITING PROGRAM

Please be advised that the regional fox baiting program will soon resume in the Sydney-north region. The aim of the project is to protect native wildlife including threatened species from fox predation. Baiting will be conducted within the following reserves:

Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park including Barrenjoey, Lane Cove National Park, Berowra Valley Regional Park - Managed by the NSW National Parks & Wildlife Service, an agency of the Department of Environment and Climate Change

Field of Mars Reserve and Brush Farm Park - Managed by City of Ryde

Foxoff® poison baits (containing 1080) will be laid from Monday 11th May to Sunday 31th August 2008

The fox control program will involve the use of “Foxoff® Fox Bait” or “Foxoff® Econobait” poison baits that are designed specifically for fox control. Poison baits contain 1080 (sodium monofluoroacetate). Baits will be buried to reduce the risk of non-target poisoning. Warning signs will be displayed to notify the public about the program. It is vital that pet owners take extra precautions to ensure that their pets do not enter baited reserves during the following period.

WARNING
1080 poison is lethal to dogs and cats.
Dogs are prohibited in National Parks at all times. Dogs must not enter reserves during the following dates penalties apply:
Monday 11th August to Sunday 28th September 2008

Signs will be erected before baits are laid. Please observe dates on signs for further details.

Thinking of nominating as a candidate for your local Council?

If so it is important that you read this notice. As a candidate you have certain obligations and responsibilities under law. Check the website www.elections.nsw.gov.au and www.efa.nsw.gov.au for further details.

How to nominate for election as Councillor
To nominate for Council, you must lodge a nomination form and $125 nomination deposit by 12 noon Wednesday, 13 August 2008, with the Returning Officer.

Where do I get a nomination form?
Nomination forms and other important nomination and electoral information are available from the Returning Officer or from the New South Wales Electoral Commission website: www.elections.nsw.gov.au.

Candidate Information sheets
Every candidate is required to lodge the candidate information sheet which is included in the nomination form.

Grouping of candidates and group voting squares
Two or more candidates may form a group and, in certain circumstances, request a group voting square on the ballot paper. A request to form a group must be lodged with the Returning Officer by 12 noon Wednesday, 13 August 2008. See www.elections.nsw.gov.au for the publication ‘Handbook for Parties, Groups, Candidates and Scrutineers at Local Government elections’ for more details.

Your nomination form and deposit must be lodged with the Returning Officer at Ryde RO Office, Top Floor, 2-12 Tennyson Road, Gladesville, during council business hours from Monday, 4 August 2008 to 12 noon Wednesday, 13 August 2008.
