What is it?
SecondHand Saturday is a garage sale held within your premises. This takes place before a scheduled Council Cleanup Collection.
To find the date of your next Council Cleanup Collection:
By participating in SecondHand Saturday residents are ensuring items are reused and help save resources needed to make new products, as well as reducing the amount of unwanted items going to landfill.
The benefits
- Make money
- Sustain your environment
- Meet your neighbours and local community
- Save on resources required to make new products
- An environmentally, socially and economically rewarding activity
- Reduce unwanted items going to landfill
How does it work?
- City of Ryde holds 5 scheduled Council Cleanup Collections a year.
- The weekend prior to your scheduled cleanup, you are invited to hold a SecondHand Saturday event and then place items not sold out for the Cleanup Collection.
- Alternatively, items that are in good condition can be given to local charities.
City of Ryde will advertise your SecondHand Saturday event as well as send you tips on how to host a successful garage sale and posters.
