Kerbside collections take place five times a year. Residents receive a waste calendar at the beginning of every financial year to notify them when collections will be occurring. General waste will be sent to landfill, metals will be recycled and garden waste will be composted.
If residents require greater garbage, recycling or vegetation bins than the allocated bins, they can apply to Council for additional services. Please see below for the associated costs or call Customer Service on 02 9952 8222.
City of Ryde’s Waste Management System has been designed to maximize the recovery of recyclable material and minimise the amount of waste requiring disposal, whilst at the same time meeting the needs of residents.
The integrated waste management scheme demonstrates Council's commitment to the State Government's goal of a 60% reduction in waste going to landfill.
All garbage and recycling services should be carried out on the day of service (including Christmas Day, Good Friday and all other public holidays). Bins must be on the kerb the evening before collection and removed as soon as possible after collection. Please position wheelie bins so that the wheels are facing the property and are not obstructed by cars, trees or telegraph poles.

PARK RECYCLING STATIONS
City of Ryde has installed over 260 garbage and recycling stations across our parks and sporting fields.
The distinctive signs on these new stations clearly displays what can and cannot be placed in each bin. This is the same system as the residential recycling service.
The yellow-lid recycling bins accept glass, plastic, steel containers, aluminium cans, paper and small cardboard items. All other general garbage is to go into the red-lid garbage bins.
Both bins have limiters to restrict the bins from being used for household garbage and to prevent contamination in the recycling bins.
Park users are requested not to place bags of rubbish or boxes of recyclables next to the bins, but to ensure it is placed in the relevant bin. Remember that large bags of rubbish will not fit in the smaller opening in the garbage bin and park users should bring small shopping bags for waste collection.

The household cleanup and metal goods collection takes place approximately every 10 weeks.
This service allows disposal of bulky wastes, which are not otherwise accepted. The cleanup accepts metal/whitegoods, which should be placed separately to the other non-metal materials.
