Council’s Porters Creek Depot is located on a former landfill site, opposite WSN’s Waste Transfer Station at Wicks Road, Macquarie Park.  The depot is used for the storage and recycling of concrete and bitumen construction waste materials from City Of Ryde Council construction sites.  Council would otherwise need to pay for the transport and disposal of these waste materials and then again for the re-purchase of the recycled products.

Council’s recycling operations at Porters Creek not only save on fuel and material purchase costs, but also have associated environmental benefits in the form of reduced vehicle emissions and landfill tonnages.  This approach is in line with the Department of Environment and Climate Change’s principals of waste minimisation.  The depot also provides essential storage space for other products utilised by Council for infrastructure maintenance and landscaping.
