Expressions of Interest (EOIs) to hold exhibitions in one of our four community gallery spaces are now closed.

Jump to: Important Information for Applicants - Key Dates - Exhibition Spaces

The City of Ryde Community Exhibition Program showcases and celebrates local creatives, and provides them with opportunities to publicly display their work.

You can find detailed information on each of these spaces below. Please be sure to check the availability of the exhibition space and see what kinds of artwork would suit each venue.

Important Information for Applicants

Applications are open to artists and groups based anywhere in Greater Sydney. However, priority will be given to applicants who have a demonstrable connection to the City of Ryde area. Applications for group exhibitions are preferred.

Applications will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • artist/s live or work in City of Ryde and/or the project has a demonstrable connection to City of Ryde
  • suitability of the exhibition for proposed venue and public display
  • clear artistic vision for the exhibition.

We are committed to selecting a program of exhibitions that reflect the diversity of our city. We strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists, artists from culturally diverse backgrounds and artists with disabilities.

Successful applicants will be responsible for organising and installing their own exhibitions. Please note: exhibitors at Brush Farm House are also responsible for invigilating (supervising) their exhibition when it is open to the public.

City of Ryde will support the successful projects by providing subsidised access to gallery spaces and promoting the exhibition via the Council website.

Key Dates

The EOI callout for exhibitions to held between July 2020 and June 2021 closed on Sunday, 15 March 2020. Applicants will be informed of the outcome of their EOI by Friday 24 April 2020.

Exhibition Spaces

Brush Farm House

Brush Farm House is one of Australia’s oldest homes, built in 1820 by Gregory Blaxland. With multiple rooms to display work, this gallery provides a beautiful, heritage location for a large, group exhibition. Please note, all exhibitions at Brush Farm House must use the track system to hang work. As such, this venue suits two-dimensional framed works or light textile items that can be hung on tracks.

Please note: this venue is not staffed by City of Ryde. Exhibitors will need to invigilate (supervise) their exhibition to ensure security when open to the public. Exhibitions at Brush Farm House must be open to the public for a minimum of four days.

Group applications are strongly preferred for exhibitions at Brush Farm House.
