Ryde Youth Theatre
Newcomers are welcome to come along to a session to give it a try for free!
Ryde Youth Theatre offers a space for young people aged 8 - 26 to explore creativity, build confidence, learn new skills and make new friends.
Through weekly workshops, we will delve into various aspects of drama and performance, with a focus on collaboration and developing ideas for performance. Together we will create an original work to be performed to the public in October each year. No previous experience is necessary.
The workshops are facilitated by established practising artists from Shopfront Arts Co-op, with experience in various disciplines including playwriting, devising, film and movement.
Ryde Youth Theatre is a program delivered by the City of Ryde in partnership with Shopfront Arts Co-op.
Ryde Youth Theatre workshops run during school terms. In 2023, these dates will be:
- Term 1: Friday 27th January to Friday 6th April
- Term 2: Monday 24th April to Friday 30th June
- Term 3: Monday 17th July to Friday 22nd September
- Term 4: Monday 9th October to Tuesday 19th December

Shopfront Arts Co-op is the home of youth arts. We stand as Sydney’s only cross-art form organisation led by and dedicated to the artistry of Young People. Shopfront has been running collaborative workshops and amplifying the voices of Young People for over 40 years. Working with established artists, our Young People experience art as valued creators, developing critical thinking and a lifelong love of the arts.
Being a member of Shopfront means you are part of something. Our co-operative is an inclusive community of artists sharing a common goal of making great art (and having a lot of fun along the way).
