City of Ryde's Australia Day celebrations to go ahead without fireworks

Published on 13 January 2020

City of Ryde will not be going ahead with its fireworks display at its Australia Day concert on 26 January. Council will be proceeding with other planned activities, including a Battle of the Bands competition, food trucks, kids amusement rides and live entertainment featuring headline act Thirsty Merc at North Ryde Common.

As part of its fundraising efforts, Council will be raising money for the Salvation Army Bushfire Disaster Appeal on the day. Eventgoers will be invited to contribute to our Wall of Hope, where they can purchase Eftpos gift cards, which will be donated to people affected by bushfires and help them to buy supplies and support local businesses in the process.

There will also be collection buckets on the day to raise money for the Rural Fire Service (RFS).

Further information can be found on Council’s Australia Day page.
