Temporary Closure of Meadowbank Bridge

Published on 07 February 2023

It is advised that works have been completed and the bridge has reopened.

Meadowbank Bridge, also known locally as the ‘John Whitton Bridge’ will be temporarily closed for pedestrian access between 9:00 to 11:00 am on Friday 10 February 2023.

Crown Lands from Department of Planning and Environment (DPIE) will be undertaking some maintenance works on Meadowbank Bridge on Friday 10 February 2023. The scope of works includes the replacement of a cracked footway panel. These works need to be undertaken whilst there is no pedestrian traffic present.

Due to the short nature of the shutdown Crown Lands are not installing diversion signage.

The contractor undertaking the works will have traffic control stationed at both ends of the bridge for the duration of the closure to notify the public and signage will be installed at both ends of the bridge from Wednesday 8 February 2023 to inform the community of the temporary closure.
