Train the Trainer
The City of Ryde’s Train the Trainer Waste Education Workshop has been designed to equip preschool and early learning educators with the right tools to educate their students in Waste avoidance and minimisation.
There is an immense amount of information on the internet about Waste and Recycling, and this can start to get confusing. Council wants to support local educators by providing clear and concise education material to facilitate the teaching of sustainable waste practices. Providing Early Learning Centres with the right tools has allowed educators to integrate this knowledge into the students’ day-to-day learnings.
This program was developed in conjunction with external contractors from the waste industry, specialising in early learning education. The program includes a centre wide visual waste audit, two in person or virtual train-the-trainer workshops, a teaching resource pack with lesson guides, posters, puppets and books, and online support.
The Train-the-Trainer Waste Education Program is currently being delivered to preschools and early learning centres within the Council area.
For more information about the Train the Trainer Waste Education Program, or if you would like to book in please email Council’s Waste department at waste@ryde.nsw.gov.au.
This project was funded by the NSW EPA through Better Waste and Recycling Fund.
