Kate Carnell, Ombudsman, Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman

Ms Kate Carnell commenced her role as the Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman (ASBFEO) in March 2016. Prior to her appointment in this role Kate held the position of CEO of the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which represents more than 300,000 businesses across Australia. She has also serviced two years as CEO of Beyondblue, four years as CEO of the Australian Food and Grocery Council, four years as CEO of the Australian General Practice Network (AGPN) and three years as CEO of the National Association of Forest Industries (NAFI).

Kate also has extensive knowledge in the small business space having run her own small businesses for 15 years before becoming ACT Chief Minister in 1995 for a five year period.


Anna Samios, Mid market Business Advisor - AusIndustry

Anna Samios is an AusIndustry Business Advisor for IT/Digital  mid-tier firms.  Amongst Anna numerous qualifications is a Gazelles International Coach, working with the proven Scaling up/Rockfeller framework, as used by success stories such as Atlassian, RedBalloon, Infusionsoft rackspace to name a few.  Anna is also an experienced external Board Advisor to mid-market companies who are driven by excellence and wish to build capability and manage growth using a proven strategic framework.  Anna has extensive experience in financial performance analysis, corporate governance, trend analysis, managing teams (both domestic and outsourced) as well as Project Manager for SaaS assessments and implementation across a wide range of industries.  Anna will share with you how she can help through the Entrepreneurs Program and Government Grants.


Edwin Onggo, CEO - GiggedIn | Getting started

Edwin is the founder and CEO of Gigging – APAC’s first to market subscription service dedicated to ticketed live music and entertainment. GiggedIn has been featured in over 30 national media outlets including everything from The SBS, The Australian Financial Review to Triple J. He has raised over $1.5M in capital for the company and led it through several pivots in order to land on the growing membership model in market today. GiggedIn was one of BlueChilli's original portfolio investments and the company now works alongside many of the entertainment industry’s leading agents, promoters and venues to fill up rooms by making going out and discovering shows a part of every young Aussie’s weekly routine.


Johanna Pitman, Program Director - City Connect - BlueChilli

Johanna Pitman is from BlueChilli;  Australia’s leading start up incubator accelerator. Johanna directs BlueChillis latest accelerator program, City Connect focused on co-creating solutions to address Urban challenges.  The City Connect accelerator program brings together government, corporates, academics and investors, and in its first cohort boasts 7 inspiring smart cities strategy start-ups with solutions across infrastructure, construction, amenity and citizens engagement in our cities.

Prior to BlueChilli Johanna was the Deputy CEO for the Committee for Sydney and independent think-tank advocating for global best practice in city-making.  Johanna brings a deep understanding of urban issues and economic development, through senior roles in Federal and State agencies.  Johanna is passionate about connecting the right players to create smart cities that are prosperous, inclusive and liveable for all.
